Welcome to the Wetherby Wheelers

Welcome to the Wetherby Wheelers Cycling Club, founded in 1985 and affiliated to the CTC, British Cycling, YCF and CTT.  Wetherby Wheelers are a friendly and sociable club.  Club Runs are on Thursdays and Sundays, these start from Wetherby Town Hall.

We have an informal Club run on Saturday. Meeting at All Terrain Cycles Wetherby for 9am to ride until 1 pm.  The ride will be 40 to 50 miles with a café stop, we would encourage potential new members/visitors to come along for 9am and enjoy a ride with fellow cyclist and learn about the club.  Use our contact page in left hand column if you would like more information regarding the club and its rides.

There is also an Evening Time Trials League on Thursday evenings through the summer.

  • Information for Time Trials

Hi Wheelers, just a note from Kenn regarding up and coming events for your calendars.
Please support the Cyclesense Time Trial League by competing and/or Marshalling please make a note in your diaries that we are running 3 Ten mile time trials over three different courses so we have to provide timekeepers and marshals for the
    following events:
    11-5-17     V212 course A59 field      19:15 start
    15-6-17.    V318 course Tadcaster.   19:30 start
    20-7-17.    V910A course Fairburn.    19:30 start
If you compete in the league events please support the club by turning out and marshaling these three events.  I will send out a proper requests nearer the time but we need bodies to be able to run these events. No marshals, no event!

The 25 mile event  on  22-6-17 and the 10 mile event on 27-7-17 are Wetherby Club Championship Events.
The Hill Climb will be held on the 30th June at Weardley Bank starting at 19.30 Hours.  Please check out the Time Trials page for further details or contact Kenn Hunter

Just a note to remind members to use full mudguards whilst on bad weather rides this winter
nobody likes a face full of mucky water when following the wheel on a club run. We know not all bikes easily accept mudguards but there are some good fixes for this on the market now, although some of the shorter version act more like a hosepipe to the rider behind and are best avoided!
Many Thanks for your consideration Roy North.

  • AGM

The Annual General Meeting was held on the 30th November at the Fox and Hounds in Boston Spa, thanks to the publican for their hospitality. Changes were agreed to the Tourist trophy points system to offer points across all the rides more details regarding this are listed under the Club runs Section.

Ken Hunter has been appointed Racing Secretary, and it was asked if the membership would offer there support for marshaling and time keeping duties when required.  We had some volunteers for this but as always we welcome more to spread the load.  It was felt that active Time Trial Riders should attend and help at two out of the three events we are obliged to organise and not depend upon other club members to pick up the slack we hope they will take particular interest in the time keeping duties.

Steve Ward a stalwart member and previously Chairman of the club has been voted in as Social Secretary and he will no doubt do a sterling job, we look forward to seeing members at future events.

Finally we have a new General Secretary in Geoff Morgan, I am sure you will wish him well in his endeavour's and help him along the way in what can be a demanding and time consuming job.

Other members of the committee were voted on and shall remain in the same positions for 2017.

    Chairman      : Roy North
    Treasurer      : Kathy Varley
    Press Officer : David Burnell

Many thanks to all our members for your support through the season, have some great rides in 2017.
Best wishes for the festive season Roy North.
